CEO and Co-Founder
Desmond Griffin is CEO and Co-Founder of Glance Technologies Inc. Previously, Griffin co-founded PayByPhone (formerly Verrus Mobile Technologies) and was its CEO from inception to successful $45 million exit. Desmond led the PayByPhone team from concept to a platform processing tens of millions of mobile payments annually for millions of consumers in over 100 cities around the world. Desmond is also an active advisor to early stage technology companies. He holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Angela Griffin, BSc
Angela has led software development for Glance Technologies Inc. since its inception and brings extensive business and software development experience to the company. For the 3 years prior to her appointment as Glance’s CTO, Angela served as President of Zoink Technologies Inc. She also served 8 years at View Assessments Inc. where she started as a developer and grew to become Chief Technology Officer. Angela holds a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of British Columbia.
VP Business and Client Development
Paola Ashton is VP Business and Client Development for Glance Technologies Inc. Paola has 16 years of client management and sales experience for startup and digital media companies where she has overseen teams of up to 25 people, generating more than $15M per year in revenues. She previously served as a VP of Sales for Agency Media, VP of Sales at Blink Media Works, Director of Sales for Chalk Media & VP of David Chalk Inc. until it was purchased by Research In Motion (Blackberry).
Laura is an experienced Chartered Accountant with a broad range of business knowledge. She has a unique blend of skills including coordinating financial audits across various industries, as well as extensive knowledge of marketing and strategy initiatives. Laura spent four years working as an auditor at KPMG, where she worked with publicly listed companies, and has been working for Glance as its Vice President of Finance since September 2016.
Chief People & Culture Officer
Prior to joining Glance Technologies as Head of Human Resources, Lewisa led the human resources function as Vice-President, People at Coast Capital Savings, identified as having one of Canada’s most admired corporate cultures. Recipient of the 2015 CPHR Human Resource Professional of the Year Award, Lewisa has enjoyed a multi-faceted career beyond HR with other award-winning organizations, in the areas of strategic planning, innovation management, corporate communications, organizational effectiveness, process transformations, as well as mergers and acquisitions. Lewisa holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a Masters in Organizational Management.
Chief Commercial Officer & General Counsel
Jonathan is the Chief Commercial Officer & General Counsel of Glance. Prior to joining Glance, he was Vice President, Legal & General Counsel at the Skidmore Group. Prior to moving in-house, he practised law at two of Canada’s leading international law firms. Jonathan has significant experience working on venture capital investments, public market financings and mergers and acquisitions. Jonathan has been admitted to the Bars of British Columbia and Alberta and holds a Juris Doctor from the University of New Brunswick and an MBA from Queen’s University.
Director & Chairman
Kirk is an accomplished technology industry executive with over 30 years of diversified experience in designing, developing and bringing to market world-class software products and solutions. Recently, Kirk co-founded Connect2Classes, a Discovery Platform for Continuing Education. Previously, Mr. Herrington co-founded Simba Technologies Inc., and was Chief Technology Officer then Chief Executive Officer. In the position of CEO for his last two years there, he developed new strategies and restructured the company to capitalize on growth opportunities. He managed a new eBusiness Product unit that ultimately led to a $30 million acquisition by Pivotal Corporation. During his tenure as CTO of Pivotal Corporation, Pivotal was awarded the 2nd fastest growing company in Canada and one of the top-10 fastest growing high- technology companies in North America. Kirk was also a recipient of the prestigious Top 40 under 40 executive award and has a degree in advanced technology management from Simon Fraser University.
James Topham, FCPA, FCA
James is a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA and FCA) specialized in working with technology companies. James was an audit partner in KPMG’s Technology Group in its Vancouver, B.C. office for 20 years, and currently sits on the boards of several companies. Since 2011, James has sat on the board of Norsat International Inc., since November 2014 he has sat on the board of 3 Tier Logic Inc., and since May 2015 he has been a director of UrtheCast Inc. From 2013 to 2015 he was the chair of the board and audit committee of Epic Fusion Corp., and from 2011 to 2014 he was a board member and audit committee chair of DDS Wireless International. James was awarded the designation of Fellow Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C. James has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Computer Science with Honours from the University of Saskatchewan, from where he graduated as a most distinguished graduate. He was awarded the designation of Fellow Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C.
Larry is a leading high-performance sales executive with a record leading high performance sales organizations, growing market share, developing effective partner channels, and managing geographically distributed operations. Larry is a team builder with more than 25 years experience selling innovative technology and exceeding revenue goals across diverse sectors. Larry was formerly a Vice President of Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO), a worldwide technology leader with a market cap of over US$163 billion and annual revenues of US$48.7 billion in fiscal 2016. Mr. Timlick has worked as Regional Sales Leader, Western Canada, for Arista Networks, Inc. (NYSE: ANET), was a Director, Networking Sales, Canada and later Vice-President, Western Canada, for Avaya Inc. He has acted as a board member of Elevation Capital Corp. (TSXV:ELE.P), CounterPath Corporation (NASDAQ: CPAH), and Para Resources Inc. (TSXV:PBR).
Steven is the founder of Cadigan Talent Ventures LLC, a human resources advisory firm based in California’s Silicon Valley and has more than 25 years of leadership and executive experience in global human resources. His past roles have included Vice President Talent at LinkedIn Corporation, VP of Human Resources for Electronic Arts and PMC Sierra. He also co-founded ISDI Digital University to help address the growing digital divide. Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Wesleyan University and a Master of Arts in Human Resources Management and Organization Development from the University of San Francisco.
Dinis Guarda is ranked 5th most influential influencer in Blockchain in the world by Right Relevance. He has worked with new tech, digital, cryptocurrencies, ICOs, regulation, compliance and legal international processes for over 20 years. Dinis has created and been involved in several of the top 100 digital currencies. He is internationally recognized as a top influencer and leader in fintech, blockchain and artificial intelligence. Alexander H. Perkins
Alexander H. Perkins is a blockchain advisor and fintech consultant with expertise in initial coin offerings (ICOs). Mr. Perkins is presently a fintech consultant at Uptick Growth, where he advises clients on the ICO process, including investor relations, media strategy, private placements, corporate strategy, and governance. Mr. Perkins has served as an Advisor and Vice President of Strategy for Humaniq, a blockchain company working to deliver banking services to the 2 billion “unbanked” globally which hosted a successful ICO in early 2017. Mr. Perkins has worked in a strategy capacity on ICO deals within payments, financial services, energy, decentralized search, eSports/gaming, and SaaS for life sciences.
Previously, Mr. Perkins was an Associate at Deep Knowledge Ventures, a London-based venture capital firm focused on early-stage investments in fintech/blockchain companies and biotech companies, where he oversaw the firm’s blockchain/fintech deal flow. Mr. Perkins has also served as an advisor to Insilico Medicine, a pharmaceutical research company based in Baltimore, MD that is applying artificial intelligence and deep learning to drug discovery. Mr. Perkins founded Dreamleague Gaming, an eSports tournament hosting body focused on the American university market, overseeing business development and brand partnership development.
Mr. Perkins earned his Master’s in Finance and Bachelor’s in Accounting and Finance from Claremont McKenna College, where he was a Robert A. Day Scholar.
Debra Williams is an accomplished Senior Executive and Digital Transformation Strategist with over 30 years of success in the information technology industry. With a focus on engaging and elevating the customer experience, she leads companies to embrace emerging technologies, especially those that bring disruptive and sustainable change to their industry. An entrepreneur herself, in 2006 Debra founded SeaBlue Inc., a strategic consulting firm that provides thought leadership and strategic planning for companies seeking to drive significant business value outcomes and implement transformational digital strategies. Debra helps her clients apply next generation technology to provide innovative solutions to complex business challenges. Sample of past clients include Universal Studios, MySpace, Netflix, Limited Brands and Hudson Bay Company. Debra has been in executive level strategic roles at Bell Canada, Rogers Communications, Teradata, MicroStrategy and IBM. During her tenure at IBM, she held a prominent role leading the Canadian National Strategy and Analytics division, followed by a role heading up the Industry Solution Strategy team for the Media, Entertainment and Communication sector of North America. Known and respected for her thought leadership, credibility and transparent no-nonsense approach she sits on multiple Strategic Advisory Boards, including Glance CSE:GET and Visionstate Corp CVE:VIS.
